Terms & Conditions Specific to Tax Exempt Organizations
PLEASE READ THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THIS WEBSITE (the "Site").
This site is fully controlled and operated by Chattypet (referred to below as
"Chattypet," "we," "us," and "our"). By
accessing and using this Site, you, the tax exempt organization (referred to
below as "Organization," and "you") agree to be legally bound by these Terms
and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Site.
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to change, modify, add to, or
otherwise alter these Terms and Conditions at any time. Such changes and/or
modifications shall become effective immediately upon their posting, so please
review the Terms and Conditions posted at this link periodically. Your
continued use of the Site following the posting of changes and/or modifications
will constitute your acceptance of the revised Terms and Conditions (including
the Site Privacy Policy). By
reference, the General Terms and Conditions
of Chattypet apply to all.
Organizational Leader:
Tax-Exempt Organizations will be required to provide contact information for a designated leader (herein referred to as Organization Leader), who will be the individual with whom Chattypet will work and address any questions or issues that arise.
An Organization Leader must not be a minor.
Organization Leaders are required to keep their contact information up to date on the Chattypet website.
In the event that Chattypet cannot contact an Organization Leader after a reasonable number of tries, Chattypet has the right to remove the organization's pages for which such Organization Leader was designated to oversee. Chattypet may attempt to contact an Organization Leader either personally, or by postal mail, or by electronic mail (e-mail), or by fax.If mailed, such notice shall be deemed to be delivered when deposited in the United States mail addressed to the Organization Leader at his/her address as it appears on the records of Chattypet for the purpose of notice, with postage thereon prepaid.
Qualification:
In order for a tax exempt organization to qualify for Chattypet registration, it must meet the following prerequisites:
TAX-EXEMPT STATUS.
Chattypet will support established companion animal welfare, rescue and shelter organizations located in the United States that are tax-exempt organizations within the meaning of Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(3).
Chattypet reserves the right to verify an organization's status as an IRC 501(c)(3) organization at any time, and the Organization Leader serves as the contact person for any questions that Chattypet may have about the organization's status or changes in the organization's status.
Any nonprofit organization that is not an IRC 501(c)(3) organization will be removed from Chattypet. Chattypet only endorses US nonprofits with tax exempt status so that contributions made within the Chattypet community are assured of tax-deductibility. In general, contributions to organizations that are not IRC 501(c)(3) organizations are not tax deductible.
NO-KILL POLICY.
Established nonprofit companion animal welfare, rescue and shelter organizations that join Chattypet must follow a "No-Kill" philosophy, provide medical treatment and behavior rehabilitation for all animals under their management, and guarantee to find these animals loving homes.
If an organization desiring to join Chattypet is an animal welfare charity located outside of the USA, please contact Chattypet's Headquarters for qualifying criteria.
Content:
Organizations meeting Chattypet's qualifications hereby understand and agree that Chattypet only permits tax-exempt organizations to post the following on their organization pages within the Chattypet community:
- photos and descriptions of pets in need that the organization is directly taking responsibility for helping (without inclusion of any personally identifying information)
- events that pertain to the organization's activities and fundraising
- link to the Organization's home website using their own domain name
- links to noncommercial websites that the Organization finds appropriate
- lists of items that the organization needs in order to sustain itself
- newsworthy information about how the organization is doing and what has been going on within it
Chattypet does not allow:
- any mention of products or services that may generate business income for the Organization such as thrift or used items, gift shop items, items up for auction, or games of chance held by the organization
- any mention of non-tax exempt organizations that may sell or advertise on behalf of the tax-exempt organization listed on the Chattypet site (such as notices that a jeweler is providing exclusive jewelry on behalf of the tax exempt organization and donates a portion of the proceeds to the tax exempt organization, etc.)
- any posting of pets who have already found loving permanent homes and/or who are no longer in need or under the organization's care
- profanity, obscenities, or sexual content (express or implied) religious, political, or social commentary
- personal attacks on other people (individually or as a group)
- slanderous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, threatening and harassing suggestions, comments and/or images
- petnames or account usernames that would be considered inappropriate under our Terms and Conditions.
- materials created by someone else without their express written permission to do so
- solicitation of user passwords private or personal information that might identify a user
- "cheat" or "hack" programs or information or links to sites claiming to have these solicitations of user passwords
- links to third party commercial Web sites
- online chat rooms anywhere on our site or links to sites with chat rooms that contain objectionable content
- Promotions anywhere on the Site offering prizes of any kind. Promotions include, but are not limited to, contests, raffles, lotteries or giveaways, and "anywhere on our site" includes but is not limited to all user communication areas and onsite pet webpages
- other information that Chattypet deems, in its sole discretion, to be inappropriate for this site.
Each Organization is responsible for the content and its accuracy and any questions or issues relating to that content. Chattypet serves as a clearinghouse and does not verify the accuracy of the information posted by Organizations.
Agree to Maintain Site Activity:
Tax exempt Organizations registered to post to chattypet.com agree to support an active, vibrant Site. If an Organization has not changed its space on chattypet.com by adding or removing animals from its portfolio of pets in need, or updated its material on chattypet.com in over Thirty (30) days, Chattypet has the right to hide the Organization's content from public view and after reasonable attempts to contact the Organization Leader may remove the Organization's content completely from the Site if vibrant activity is not maintained.
In addition to these Terms & Conditions specific to Tax Exempt Organizations, by reference, the General Terms and Conditions of Chattypet apply to all.
