A Letter from Victory
Posted by Freckles on March 27, 2008, 6:14 pmWe haven't seen Victory since she went to live with Sabine and her family. We get pictures and emails from Sabine telling us all about Victory's escapades. They make Mom laugh and cry. She calls Auntie Ruth, and they reminisce about the days when Victory lived with Auntie Ruth and Uncle Don.
Today Mom read her email, and there was a letter from Victory. Her new name is Oreo. I will share it with you. It made Mom and Auntie Ruth get wet cheeks, but it was GOOD . It must be, because when Mom read this, her face got wet, but she was also smiling.

A Letter from Victory
Hi Auntie Ruth and Auntie Sally…..its me, Oreo….that’s my new name at my forever home. I think about you guys everyday….happy thoughts. I have a lot of happy thoughts these days. Every day there’s so much new stuff to do and to see and to taste and to hear. I have lots of animal friends to chase and pester and my new mom laughs a lot …I think she’s laughing at me, but that’s ok….she’s always squeezing me and telling me how cute I am….I like that. My new dad is nice too….but he’s really big and I’m still kinda shy around him. Mom says you guys will come and visit when the snow melts and its not so dirty at the ranch….I’d really like that! Mom helped me write something called a “poem” for you…..I hope you like it.
XOXO

Butterfly Kisses
Into my darkness, a sliver of light
Easing my sorrow, chasing my fright.
A tender caress, a whispered refrain,
“it’ll be all right little one, we’re not all the same”.
You opened your home, brought me in from the rain,
I danced in your sunshine, relieved from my pain.
You cried for my suffering, held me so tight,
Promised you’d somehow turn wrong into right.
My eyes they now sparkle as I greet each new day,
A lightness of being, the demons at bay.
My voice is still quiet, I can’t thank you in words,
So butterfly kisses I send from my heart to yours.
Thank you for saving my life.
