Orson sounds similar to Marley- a crazy dog who people refer to as a "lifetime" pet - a pet that no other pet can compare to in depth of love and impact on people's lives.  Katz has written several books about pets, and all show his understanding and love of pets in touching ways. The most problematic and challenging pets, people, and circumstances are alwyas those that because they force us to grow and overcome adversity, are the ones we find most memorable and enjoy reading about most often.  The story of Orson is no exception.  Sounds like a good book for helping to escape from the daily grind, ready to read on a cold wintery Saturday with your househoes on, relaxing in a soft chair in front of a fireplace or woodstove, with a cup of hot cocoa or coffee or tea at hand.  Oh, and a blanket over your shoulders for added snuggly comfort.  Finish it feeling good inside and out.
