Why do people accept killing animals as a "way to end their suffering" if they cannot find a permanent loving home?  Why are the numbers of pets killed each day reported to us?  Why do we continue to let this happen?  Not only do people dispose of pets, we dispose of everything else, as we become more commodity-oriented.  To buy and toss is acceptable, but should it be?  This book addresses these concerns.
