Shelter of Hope
Her dream was to build a beautiful shelter, where they could house harder to place animals, and a retirement home for old and unwanted pets. A safe haven, a port in the storm. Funds For Furry Friends is a rescue group who takes in all animals including the old and infirm. They do not deny animals a chance just because they are old.
Adopt Sophie!
Sophie is a very sweet and energetic 5 – 6 month old Beagle cross. She
is not built like a Beagle, however. Her legs are quite long and she is
currently about 16 inches tall at the shoulder, weighing in around 25 pounds. The vet estimates that she will reach 35 - 40 pounds when she matures. She has a very
slender build but she has been underweight all of her life due to the
problems she had with a constriction in her esophagus. She has had several
procedures to correct this problem. A portion of her esophagus will always
be narrower and she will not be able to be fed large sized food of any
kind. Right now she is being fed canned food and will have kibble
introduced soon. She is very food-motivated and would eat anytime. Sophie
is a very friendly and outgoing puppy. She is great with kids but still
jumps up on people. She loves other dogs and really enjoys playing and
wrestling with a buddy. Sophie has been exposed to cats and is very
interested in them. She doesn't try to hurt them but likes to try to play.
She would love a home with another dog who loves to play as well. Sophie
is crate-trained and house-trained. You can expect accidents when she
moves to a new and unfamiliar home but in her foster home she scratches at
the door or just stares at you to go out. She has had her vaccinations,
has been de-wormed and has been heartworm tested. If you would like a
wonderful, affectionate puppy and you are a patient pet owner who is
willing to work through her eating challenges, then Sophie would be a
great pet. Please call Sophie's foster mom
Theresa at 725-4488 if you are interested
in adopting Sophie.
