I am an Alpha Dog and because I went to obedience school, I know the rules of the house. When new beagles come to live with me, they follow my led and so they get to know the rules quickly. No matter how many beagles are in the house at any one time, I am ALWAYS the special dog and ALWAYS get treated as a king to support my alpha status to the pack (even though I am subordinate to my guardian). I was also the first dog in the house, so I've been around the longest.Friends

Hi. I feel like blogging today about something that I feel strongly about. That is, how us pets teach compassion to people. I think people hurt other people's feelings out of insensitivity, or maybe jealousy, or maybe anger. When a person gets their feelings hurt in some way and that person is not a developed enough soul to know how to absorb it and stop the cycle, then they often do something either consciously or unconsciously as a response to make someone else feel bad. If the person who feels hurt can talk to a beloved pet, then they often find that their nerves are calmed by petting, that our love for people counteracts the negative energy with positive energy, and that spending time with us can stop the cycle. Also, if people watch how we deal with frustration (for the most part, I either go outside and exercise or I sleep it off), they could do the same and benefit as well.
Pets are good at absorbing peoples' frustrations and that stops people from taking it out on other people. That is why I think pets are a gift that people should treasure more. Don't underestimate the lessons we can teach people! I do my part, and I love it! It makes me feel like I have a useful purpose and I like knowing how meaningful my life is to people.

OK, I personally believe that pet stuff is way overpriced. I mean, way! So, I am on the net trying to find ways to get what I want without having to make my guardian give away a good part of her paycheck. Well, fortunately she has a sewing machine - and she can now make doggie clothes, thanks to me finding this pattern: Simplicity Pattern #4300 - Extra Large Dog Clothes.
Now, I know this pattern is for extra large dogs, of which I am not, but I think with a bit a math and her ability to reduce the proportions all around, my guardian can make me a little cost for the snowy weather coming up. As I get older, I have to say that my joints and bones are not as snow-happy as they once were. The trick, though, is how to wear a halter with a cost at the same time. I hate leashes on my collar (it really hurts my throat). Halters are great. I'm sure someone can figure out how to do it. Also, if you find some good fabric at a good price, please let me know. (I'm kinda picky!)

Hi everyone - just wanted to say I hope your humans are keeping you cool these days! This heat has been something! I need extra water and fortuntately I can stretch out (with my double jointed back legs spread far and wide - see my gallery!) on the cool tile floor of the basement to stay cool.
Hey, have any of you heard of sunscreen or insect repellant for companion animals? My gosh! That stuff, from what I know, can kill pets! I mean literally - it is bad for us. The human version that is. Then one of my friends mentioned that they thought there were pet sunscreens and insect repellents out there. Honestly. I can say that having something to help keep the flies andmesquitoes away from me would be nice, but I hope your people aren't trying to put that stuff on you. It is very dangerous. Have you ever heard of such?
You know what - I bet there are special plants that people can plant in our yards to help keep bugs are bay. I remember my people reading a plant catalogue one time that arrived in the mail - it had a "mosquitoe repelling plant" advertised in there. There must be herbs or something natural that we should ask our people to put in their yards for us. Do you guys know of anything?
